The capital is the city of Vladimir with population of 336.1 thousand people.

Vladimir oblast is located in the central part of East-European plain. It shares borders with Moscow oblast, Ivanovo oblast, Nizhny Novgorod oblast, Ryazan oblast and Yaroslavl oblast.

Economy

The biggest cities and industrial centers are Vladimir, Kovrov, Murom, Alexandrov, Kolchugino, Vyazniky, Goos-Khrustalny. Raw material resources: peat, carbonate rock, clay and metallurgical dolomite. Key industries: machine-building and metal-working, light industry, chemical industry, textile industry, glass industry and art crafts.
